How Musicians Promote Themselves: Ben Howard

I google search 'Ben Howard' and the very first response is his official page, the URL for this page is 'www.benhowardmusic.co.uk' I think something that is important is that it says Ben Howards 'music' this shows that this is showcasing and selling his music not himself as an artist and I think that alone separates him from mainstream artists.

This is the top half of home page on his website, at the top of the page there is a chance to log in to your own personal account or log in with facebook, this is connecting Ben Howard to his audience and knowing that most of his audience will have facebook. Ben Howards name is in bold block writing, I think even though no particular dramatic font or colours have been used it reflects Ben Howards simple music style, his name is the biggest font on this page so your attention is drawn straight to it regardless of anything else being shown. There are a few posts from his new page showing what he is currently doing, again and bold clear text is used, this makes it look cleaner and more recognisable, in the background there is a video of Ben Howard under water and then he comes up for air, this links Ben Howard to his earthy kind of natural feel in his music, I think this has his background makes the page very interesting and interactive. This is also is the filmed version of the images used for his album cover, by constantly showing this it makes it more recognisable.

Further down the page is an advertisement for Ben Howards new song 'Esmerelda' this again is making his website very interactive and interesting on the first page alone. Below is the music video shown on his page.

This is the bottom of Ben Howards home page, there is a direct link to his album on itunes.
